CUSTOMER PRIVACY IS OUR CONCERN

The Cheney Financial Group is committed to protecting your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal information. Our collection, use, and disclosure of non-public personal information about you is governed by this policy and regulated by law. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with state and federal regulations to protect the personal information in our records. We also limit access to personally identifiable information to only those associates that have a business reason for knowing such information. Our associates are required to know and comply with our privacy and confidentiality rules and we take measures to enforce associate privacy responsibilities. We do not disclose any non-public personal information about you, other customers, or former customers to anyone outside our companies except as required or permitted by law.

THE TYPES AND SOURCES OF PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We obtain most of our personal information directly from you on applications or other forms, by phone, mail, electronic communications, and in personal interviews. Such information may include identifying and biographical information, and information about employment status and history, marital status, and residency. During the normal course of business, we may receive additional information about you from third parties or public records, or consumer credit information from a consumer-reporting agency.

OUR USES OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We will collect and use personal information about you only in connection with our business relationship with you. This may include evaluating applications, administering various products or services, helping you to buy or sell real estate, coordinating vacation cottage rentals for you, and processing other transactions requested by you.

DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

We may disclose your personal information to others only when it is necessary to conduct our business or is required by law. We may disclose all information we collect to the following types of third parties for the following purposes:

  • Insurance certificate holders or policyholders to inform them about the status of an insurance transaction.
  • Lien holders, mortgagees, lessors or other persons shown in our records as having a legal or beneficial interest in an insurance policy we provide for you.
  • Regulatory agencies in connection with the regulation of our business.
  • Law enforcement or other governmental authorities to protect our legal interests or in cases of suspected fraud or illegal activities.
  • Authorized persons as ordered by a subpoena, warrant, or other court order or as required by law.

ACCESS TO YOUR INFORMATION

You have the right to be informed whether we have certain types of personal information in our files about you, and to receive a copy of the information. Information collected when evaluating claims or possible lawsuits may not be disclosed. To exercise this right, you must submit a written request to our Privacy Administrator with your name, address, date of birth, a copy of personal identification such as a driver’s license, as well as a description of the information which you want to access. Within thirty (30) business days of our receipt of your request, we will inform you in writing of the nature and substance of retrievable recorded personal information about you in our files. You may review this information in person or receive a copy. In addition, you will be given the name and address of any consumer-reporting agency that prepared a report about you.

CORRECTION OF YOUR INFORMATION

After you have reviewed the personal information about you in our files, you can ask us to review any data you wish to be corrected, amended, or deleted. We will consider your request, and within thirty (30) days we will give you our response. If we do not make your requested changes or deletions, you will have an opportunity to provide us with a statement containing what you believe to be correct, fair, and relevant information and we will make that part of your file.
